PHYSIOLOGICAL JAUNDICE OF NEW BORN

When baby is born Baby s HB IS HIGH ,it is broken down in bilirubin which is excreted in urine and stool.
When it reaches abone 15 mg % than it it may reach in brain and get deposited .It may be dangerous as it may damage brain FOR EVER .Only treatment is exchange transfusion(whole blood is replaced) or PHOTOTHERAPY.

Baby is kept under fluroscent lamps for some time .
EYES and TESTICLES are covered as it may damage them.
Bilirubin is dis intigregated to bilirubin and excreted in urine and stool.
