Pneumococcal vaccine

Pneumonia is main cause of morbidity and mortality under two years of age.
It can be prevented by three doses of primary and two doses of booster doses.
Primary does given at 6 ,10 and 14 weeks of age.Booster at 13 months and 3 years of age.
There are three types of vaccines are available Synflorix,Pneumovax and Prevenar 13. Only Prevanar -13 can be given after two years of age.There should not be interchangeability of vaccines preferably.
